Hursula goes the distance

So we survived the night at the quarry , went out and checked out the quarry, hung with the truckies, saw a quarry roo and made it back on the Tarmac with all wheels in tact and car full of red dust !
Ready for another day of driving

The 3 of us all agreed on a "Morning song" (a song we must listen to every morning of the trip) and after much thought and deliberating we decided on John Williamsons "Big Bad Bush Ranger"
Balladonia the longest straight road in Australia 90 MILES
We got to COCKlebiddy ....BEST fishburger so far ! 9 out of 10 (seriously it was amazing) .. Also .. BEST 'sport' of the trip so far

We made a quick decision to stay at Madura Pass for the night as the sun was quickly setting and we had a tent to set up , dinner to be cooked and chivas to be drunk... Smart girls that we are, we set up under the one and only street light in the whole campground , therefore woke up throughout the night thinking it was morning .. Our campsite was a Moshpit ! Good times
Total truck honks - 1

On the road again to our next BIG thing, at Eucla .... The Giant Whale
Another huuuge day of driving...The day we cross the Nullabour Plain!! just had to stop for roadies at the Nullabour truck stop Roadhouse and were pointed in the direction of the Great Australian Bite to see the whales

DING DING
$36.00 later we were out on the edge of the bite to see some spectacular shows from about 7 whales  who were jumping around and waving at us..pretty cool... except for the fly invasion, we have never seen so many flies in our lives, kinda killed our 'buzz' invading our personal space..
By this stage we were all really hot and really sweaty and really feeling like we were on the nullarbour plain, .....

kept driving and stoppped again for roadies  at Nundroo (please refer to seperate  post for nundroo) and found ourselves at Penong where we stopped for night, set up camp, had a roadhouse meal and played some darts ....

Nundroo
What a township .. Have you ever been looking for that place you've been waiting all your life to find ? And when u finally find it it is like stumbling on a gold mine ? Well... Thurs 15th sept Tammy ,Asha and Lizzy found a little piece of paradise ... Oh what a gem ...
Like other undiscovered hot spots , such as Byron Bay , Frankston , America, France ,Buff point... I predict Nundroo will be the next big thing, it won't stay a secret for long, don't wait.. Invest now!!!
Nundroo roadhouse had a great selection of food and drinks , boiled eggs ... Only $1.50 each!! Bargain ! AND fresh fruit salad in a bowl...

People all over want to work there but 2 lucky irishmen got the job.
Not to mention the friendly townsfolk..
Seriously what more could you want , a pub, motel, restaurant, convenience store and service station all in one!
Keep posted... There are rumours of a Nundroos next top model

We stayed the night in Penong caravan park and met a cool couple who have been traveling around Oz for 5 years in a big old bus living the life with the sweetest setup, amazing house/bus , tinny , a car, motorbike ,tool shed ,bikes, fishing rods....(hi Paul and Kylie .. You guys rock! )

Then we took Hursula on a little off road adventure to Cactus , a famous Australian surf break , made up of 3 little breaks ...went out, got fully barreled ... Siiiick  (shame there was no surf) The old time local hippies were there, they tuned our guitar and strummed us some Neil young whilst we cooked up brekky and enjoyed cups of tea. The water was freezing but after 3 days on the road we just couldn't resist a dip in the Great Australian Bite and a wander along the shore collecting shells..

Ceduna Oyster shack.. Yum! Fresh oysters with chilli and lemon whilst sitting on the roof in the sun...so pleasant.
By the time we drove to Wudinna we had decided to fang it all the way to Adelaide, (rather than stop the night at Port Augusta as we had intended) So we showered at the roadhouse, had fishburgers  -they got a 9 out of 10, cooked onion a point scorer- and chatted to the locals and were informed Hursula was worth  $ 200,000... They OBVIOUSLY knew what they were talking about....
We kept on the road, ready for roo spotting and wild goat spotting... total spottings....0
Arrived safely in Adelaide by 1.30am  with some sweet tunes by kid cudi "Pursuit of happiness"
